Issue

• Two industry associations and the DTI sponsored a study to see if collaboration across the industry wide supply chain would be of benefit
• The current industry supply chain consisted of a whole range of players of differing sizes and levels of influence, all of whom were very wary of each other

Solution

• A large data gathering exercise involving 20 key cross industry participants was undertaken This data was then built into an industry-wide supply chain model

• From this model they were able to determine the scope of the potential benefits to the industry from the new supply chain scenarios that had been developed
