Issue

This medium sized NHS Acute Trust was running at a small deficit which was hampering it's Foundatrion Trust status objectives. To counter this a new management team, including a Turnaround Director, was brought in. One of the areas of potential weakness they identified related to purchasing processes and the delivery of savings.

Solution

Acting as Interim Purchasing Director for the last three months of the financial year with a brief to:

• improve the efficiency, effectiveness of, and compliance to, procurement processes across the Trust
• unblock current year casjh releasing savings plans
• identify further in year cash releasing savings

• Reviewed all aspects of purchasing across the Trust and developed a strategic action plan to improve going forward
